Well after only being involved with the moths for a short time it is great to see that that the class is passionate about the boats they are sailing. Everyone is keen to be competitive, which became very obvious when we released our new masts. BUT.... its not just all about winning. All the people i have met so far seem to be greatful that they are getting new members into the class and are super keen to encourage more to join. I think that alot of classes have manage to loose this passion over the years for whatever reason and the moths still seem to be thriving on it and it rubs off real quick.
I spoke with Marcus Hamilton today who just won his second Contender world championship in a row and did my best to convert him over to the moth fleet. He has just sold his boat and is looking to get intoa new class. He was talking about the Musto skiff but i think i may have persuaded him to at least demo a moth. He is in victoria so if your in the moth scene down there please help out and get him out for a trial.
He was a little worried about being to heavy. I told him about Dave Lister up her in sydney at about the 90kg mark and how quick he was, which seemed to prick his ears up. It would be great to get marcus into the fleet, just another top notch sailor to add to the list.
As you can tell i am feeling pretty good about my moth purchase and hope i can turn my high expectations into some good sailing results.
Good work fellow mothies, keep up the recruitment and keep the passion alive.

HI Chris,
Get him in touch with Rohan. Rohan will be able to get him a ride on a Bladerider in Melbourne for sure.
Regards,
Bruce
